SMALL BOX SERIES: PURE MEDICINE
Small Box Series Director Lisa Yaconelli is proud to introduce her brother, Mark Yaconelli, a talented writer, speaker, community activist, and storyteller to the Athens GA community. Mark Yaconelli will share stories from his keenly perceptive and warm hearted book, Between the Listening and the Telling How Stories Can Save Us, along with drummer Louis Romanos and movement artists Jennifer Morlock and Lisa Yaconelli. As always Small Box will offer warmth, honesty, and connection from the box, or as Mark says “pure medicine.” Come and enjoy an intimate evening around the box. Now more than ever, we need a teacher and a book such as this. —New York Times best selling author Anne Lamott.
Books will be for sale at event. Learn more about Mark Yaconelli here. https://markyaconelli.wordpress.com/about-2/

AN EVENING WITH MARK YACONELLI
WEATHERING THE HOLIDAYS
Rabbit Box and Avid Bookshop will present a second event with Mark Yaconelli, championing the importance of community institutions such as Rabbit Box Storytelling that bring people together to hear stories. An excellent storyteller and a story “catcher,” Mark will lead an interactive workshop on how stories can help us weather the holidays by moving beneath the normal conversational patterns within our families to find real connection and empathy. Mark states that with sharing stories “the illusion of separateness dissipates, and we see ourselves in one another’s story. When that happens, we are no longer able to demonize, ridicule, oppress or neglect.” Yaconelli’s work in communities has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, BBC Radio, and ABC World News Tonight. Best-selling author Anne Lamott is a fan. She calls the book “an owner’s manual for the soul.” This second event is free and open to the public. Book will be for sale by Avid Bookshop at the event.
